How do I go about getting my idea patented so that before I go to manufacturers it is sealed up and they can’t send me on my way but use my idea? Does it cost money to patent…if so how much?

Before discussing your invention with anybody it is always best to have either a provisional patent application or a utility patent application on file with the Patent and Trademark Office. It does cost money to get a patent and how much depends on what your invention is, the amount of prior art there is that relates to your patent, and the law firm you use to write the patent application for you.

I have an idea of a new way to use an existing product. How can I, or can I copyright or protect my idea. The design would be different and I don’t believe anyone is using this existing product in this way.

I am a new Inventor that is currently registered with Inventhelp Co. I have been recommended for a utility patent but at this time I don’t have the money yet. I have three companies that are Over Sea’s that is willing to produce this product for me. Is there some way I can get protection for my Invention until such time I can pay for my patent. These companies all have agreed to sign a non-disclosure form but Inventhelp states the product will still not be covered. Please assist with information if you can.

he only way to protect your invention in a country is to file for patent protection in that country. A United States issued patent only protects your invention in the United States. You should go to www.inventored.org to find out if the Inventhelp Co. is a legitimate company or not. Here is a direct link to one of their caution pages. http://www.inventored.org/caution/watch/. Do you have a list of REPUTABLE companies that make MEDICAL prototypes?
Who was the prototype company for Janusz Liberkowski in the American Inventor?
I do not know who the prototype company for Janusz Liberkowski was. A reputable medical prototype company may be RHP Industries. I met Ed Stewart at an inventors meeting and he seemed nice and willing to help inventors. I have not had any personal experience with him and do not know anybody who has. His number is 972-294-4544, e-mail
ed.stewart@rhpindustries.com and the web site is www.rhpindustries.com. He and I were discussing two medical prototype companies and he may be able to help you.

What are Apple’s chance of being able to protect their trademark on iPod by going after those using Pod or podcast to
describe products and services. I cannot answer this question. Do a search on the Internet and you
will probably find a good article discussing this point.
What should inventors who come up with add on for Apple’s iPod be wary of in marketing their products.

I have come up with a product idea from using a another company patent product, you are allowed to use this product to
put in it what you want. What I need to know do I need to trade mark, or patent the idea I am using in there product, or can I?
PLEASE HELP
A patent protects how something works or, in the case of a design patent, how something looks. For a device to be protected by a utility patent, the device must have utility or some usefulness. A trademark is a word, phrase, logo, sound, smell, or almost anything else that is used to identify the goods or services from others with the same or similar goods or services. You may be able to get a patent that adds features or builds on somebody else’s idea, so long as what you have added is  tentable. It would be best if you would contact our office at 941-331-4343 to discuss the issue and specific facts of your  situation.

I have a patent and would like to sell it outright. How do I do that? the product is not yet developed.
We cannot help you find a buyer for your patent but after you have found a buyer, you can assign it to them. The assignment should be filed with the PTO and once the patent is assigned to them, they own all the rights to the patent.
