The NYSE Financial Future Challenge is asking you to create a new product/idea or process that will excite and educate your friends and classmates about investing and the financial marketplace. Your ideas might be activities, games, books, websites, videos, etc. which illuminate the fundamentals of the stock market and financial literacy and make it easy to learn and even participate in the markets.

The Commerce Department’s United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced the implementation of the e-Office Action program following a successful pilot project. Under the program, patent applicants receive an e-mail notification of office communications instead of paper mailings.

Tsera Sues Companies

Tsera Sues Companies

More than twenty companies including Microsoft and Apple are being sued this week by the company Tsera due to alleged patent infringements incurred by using touchpad interfaces.

The Texas based Tsera was issued with the patent in question back in 2003 after applying for it in 1999. It covers, “Methods and apparatus for controlling a portable electronic device using a touchpad”.

Springville start-up Millenniata (millennium + data) introduced a new technology for writing DVDs that can be read for 1,000 years after being stored at room temperature when average life of ordianry CDs/DVDs are only from 3 to 4 years.
