Posted by Dan under Patents/Inventions/TechnologiesQ: I am starting a business making home made, hand milled
soap, liquid soap from olive oil as well as lotions and lip balm.
On my labels that I make myself I use a stamp of a windmill that
I purchased at a hobby store. Is there a legal problem with this?
If so please let me know.
A: If the windmill is a generic looking windmill with no artistic merit
then it should be in the public domain. If you have any questions you
should contact the manufacture to see if they have or claims any
rights to the figure.![]()

I recently requested information from the US patent and trademark office. I have an invention that I need to get patent and manufactured. The package is confusing. Am i going the right route? Five years ago I sent one of my idea to a company that claimed to help with your inventions and they wanted thousands of dollars. i recently saw a very similiar idea on the market. Is it safer to go through the US department to patent your idea?
