INVENTION:
EZ-X Portable Gym – A compact, portable gym system which features collapsible bars and interlocking weights so that the user can do a variety of different weight training exercises with one device. Also includes resistance cords and more. Like having an entire gym in one bag.

Jerry Wesley, 51, is a correctional officer with the California Department of Corrections in San Diego. He also has worked in law enforcement for the past 10 years. Jerry lives with his girlfriend and has a 22-year-old daughter from a previous marriage. The EZ-X is a passion project for him, so much so that it caused the break-up of his first marriage. He has devoted countless hours and resources to developing the product, which he hopes will make it easy for anyone to get a complete workout anywhere, anytime.

INVENTION:
Flushpure – A new kind of toilet seat lid that filters out bacteria and other harmful particles that normally escape when you flush the toilet. The seat features side seals, which force the toilet spray through an air filter on the top of the lid.

Joe and Jenny Safuto, 47 and 32 years old, share their Los Angeles, California home with Joe’s 12-year-old twin daughters. Joe is a performing magician, comedian and singer, and Jenny is a make-up artist. Joe was inspired to create the Flushpure after his mother passed away from a respiratory infection. The event made him very aware of airborne illnesses and he vowed to do something to make our air cleaner.

INVENTION:
The Headliner – A lightweight disposable liner that is worn underneath wigs, hats or helmets. Provides comfort and protects from perspiration and oils.

Jodi Pliszka, 39, is a healthcare case manager from Muskego, WI. Jodi is married with a 9-year-old daughter, Jessica. Jodi suffers from Alopecia, a medical condition that caused her to lose all of her hair. Her experiences wearing uncomfortable wigs drove her to develop the Headliner, which she envisions being used by anyone who wears wigs, hats, helmets, etc. Jodi authors children’s books in her free time.

INVENTION:
The Double Traction Bike – A new bike design that features a second seat on the handlebars of the bicycle, so that a second rider can sit up front and help power the bike with their own set of pedals. A safer and more efficient way for kids to ride on the handlebars of their friends’ bikes.

Francisco Patino, 19, was born in Barranquilla, Colombia. After his sister passed away at the age of 7, he became determined to make something great of his life. He came to America at age 12 to live with his father in New York City. He is currently a student at Queens College in New York and also runs a carpet cleaning business with his uncle. Francisco was inspired to create the Double Traction Bike because all of the kids in his neighborhood ride on each other’s bike handlebars to get around. He is a passionate inventor and also hopes to go to law school in the future.

INVENTION:
The Un-brella – An umbrella that inverts inward and folds up into its own handle, to make it easier to close in windy and wet situations. Also insures that you don’t get doused when closing your umbrella while getting into your car.

Sheryl McDonald, 41, is a former airline service agent from Van Nuys, California. Sheryl and her partner Denise were recently married in Hawaii and are the loving parents of four dogs. Sheryl was inspired to create the Un-brella out of frustration with regular umbrellas, which scratched her car and were difficult to close. Sheryl enjoys writing in her free time

INVENTION:
Sackmaster 2000 – The one-man, one-scoop sandbag shovel. An ergonomically designed shovel with a hollow handle that allows the material being shoveled to be instantly deposited into an attached bag. Designed to save time, and ultimately lives, when sandbagging during floods and storms. Can also be used for sacking grain, leaves, etc.

Mark Martinez, 43, is a self-employed handyman from Chino, California. He and his wife Traci have two children and were forced to sell their previous house to support his invention. Mark and Traci have designed and remodeled their new house themselves and enjoy working on it together. Mark was inspired to create the first Sackmaster 17 years ago and it has been a passion of his ever since. It is Mark’s hope that the Sackmaster will help save lives and property in emergency situations.

INVENTION:
Word Ace – An electronic table-top word game for 1-6 players. Teaches children spelling and vocabulary skills in a fun, interactive way. The object of the game is to beat the other players in creating a word given a certain set of rules (example: create a seven-letter word where “s” is the second letter). Ed will be further developing his game with Hasbro and bringing it to the market.
Ed Hall, 40, resides in Chicago, Illinois with his girlfriend and their 2-year-old son. Ed is a former elementary and high school teacher and coach, whose 5th grade students inspired him to come up with his invention. He wanted to create an educational game that was as fun as it was challenging, to motivate his students to get excited about learning. Growing up, Ed was a high school basketball All-American. He also played college ball for the University of Illinois-Chicago. He had dreams of playing in the NBA and promised to get his mother a house outside of the rough neighborhood he grew up in. After finishing in the top four of the competition, and being given an opportunity by Hasbro, he’s hoping to make good on his promise

INVENTION:
“Here Comes Niya” – A trilingual doll that speaks in English, Spanish and Swahili. Teaches children language skills and the importance of ethnic diversity. Also helps encourage the acceptance of other cultures.

Darla Powell, 48, resides in Los Angeles, California. An active wife and mother of three, Darla devotes herself full-time to developing her invention, the “Niya” doll. “Niya” is named after Darla’s now-22 year old daughter. When Niya was born, Darla developed the doll as a fun and innovative way to teach her about her heritage. Growing up, Darla’s mother worked at a doll factory, and her entire family has contributed greatly to the development of her product. She’s hoping that 22 years of family sacrifice will finally be rewarded.

The Restroom Door Clip – A small plastic clip that attaches to the top of a restroom stall to hold the door closed when the stall is broken. Clips onto a pack of tissues for easy storage in a purse or pocket. UPDATE: You can find her product at www.keep-it-tidy.com.

Sharon Clemens resides in Huntington Beach, California and is a retired sales associate. Sharon created the Restroom Door Clip, now called the Stall Stopper™ after too many unpleasant experiences in public restrooms. INVENTION:
Tonerbelt™ is a fitness belt featuring two handles on retractable cords. The belt is worn around the waist, and the user pulls on the cords for resistance training, which provides a cardio workout and builds strength.

Robert Amore, 46, resides in New York City, where he is a youth hockey coach. Amore’s father passed away from a heart attack, and heart disease runs in his family. In order to combat his genetics, Amore has been an active athlete his entire life. He’s been working on the Tonerbelt™ for eight years, and hopes that it will help inspire Americans to get in better shape and will promote a healthier lifestyle.
