Inventors Developing New Headgear for iPod
Posted by Administrator under Patents/Inventions/TechnologiesTwo very different inventors are each developing headgear that is intended to be used with various Apple iPod products. One of the inventors is Aaron M. Phillips who is from Granite Bay, California. Mr. Phillips’s headgear invention is intended to be used to accommodate the iPod Nano or Shuffle. The headgear is expected to appeal to the athlete who is used to wearing caps or headbands.
The second inventor is Marcio Mar Abreu who is from North Haven, Connecticut, and his invention is much more complex.
His headgear includes video goggles. With Abreu’s patent there are more than 200 illustrations that illustrate how his invention can be used as headgear inside cowboy hats and ball caps, to headgear incorporated inside football helmets; complete with a thermal cooling unit. Although some of Abreu’s ideas seem fascinating, some seem have been described as off-the-wall.
With the Aaron Phillips invention the headgear comes with a built-in music player with connected speakers, which are hidden inside the cap style or headband style headgear. The assembly of the headgear includes either a cap or headband which has a left pouch for the left speaker and a right pouch for the right speaker.
These pouches are specifically placed in the headgear so that it is quick and easy to assemble the speakers. The speaker pouches are designed to sit right over the user’s ears when the cap or headband is worn. The player pouch in Phillip’s invention is located next to the wearer’s temples and a window in the pouch allows the wearer to control the player.
In Phillip’s patent he states that the patent is intended for Apple’s iPod Shuffle, but that the pouch in his headgear could also accommodate an iPod Nano, as well as a cell phone.
Marcio Mar Abreu’s more complex invention incorporates longer DEP (Detachable Electronic Package) wires that connect removable electronic eyeglasses with devices that are commercially available, such as Apple’s iPods.
Abreu’s headgear incorporates a screen and a microphone with the ear bud which will allow the headgear to function with various electronic devices. With the headgear a cell phone will have a video display feature. There would also be a digital viewing system incorporated in the headgear. Abreu’s system might also incorporate a camera.
