Lowell Martinson is an Ahwatukee, Arizona resident who has been handed an opportunity of a lifetime. Martinson, who has invented the ScopeOut safety mirror, has been invited to show his ScopeOut product on the popular national television program, The Home Shopping Network.

The ScopeOut is a safety mirror which is attached to a vehicle and allows the driver to see blind spots when they back up or change lanes. The invitation to appear on the popular Home Shopping Network is a terrific opportunity for Martinson to spread the word about his product.

Martinson, who is the vice president of operations at Sense Technologies located in Chandler, Arizona, told The Arizona Republic’s Luci Scott that his company doesn’t have millions of dollars to advertise a new product, like major corporations do, so he sees the opportunity to speak on the Home Shopping Network, and the international exposure it will receive, as a chance to open the door for a lot of great things for his product.

On August 7 Martinson will appear on the Home Shopping Network, whose studios are located in St. Petersburg Florida, and the episodes are scheduled to appear at 5 a,m. at noon and at 5 p.m. Martinson plans to explain to the American public how his ScopeOut mirrors enhance driver safety by eliminating blind spots. He will also explain how the ScopeOut is installed.

Martinson began working on the ScopeOut mirror about eight years ago. He first started tinkering with cardboard, Styrofoam and modeling clay. He eventually made a prototype of the ScopeOut using a mold ejection machine. The final product turned out as a palm-sized series of mirrors which are installed on a vehicle’s back window.

ScopeOut comes in two versions. The passenger car ScopeOut is mounted inside the car’s back window. With a minivan or SUV, the ScopeOut is mounted on both corners of the vehicle’s back windows. With the use of the ScopeOut, the driver can look at the inside rear-view mirror and have a clear view of the street in both directions.

The US Military plans to check out the safety benefits of the ScopeOut mirrors. Martinson has signed a deal that will have ScopeOut mirrors installed on military vehicles in 22 military bases around the country by early fall.
