The Portable Book Holder, as the name implies, is an apparatus that allows readers to read books or magazines while their hands remain free to perform other tasks.

The invention takes the form of a rigid plastic sheet, approximately 9" wide and 12" long. An attachment belt is provided at the top of the sheet that fastens around the user's waist.
The neck strap is adjustable, thus allowing the sheet to be placed at a correct angle to allow for ease of viewing of books, magazines, papers, newspapers and the like that may be placed upon the sheet.

The invention is envisioned as being useful on public transportation such as buses or train, where a user's hands may be occupied with other tasks such as holding a beverage, or grasping rails to prevent falling.
The use of THE PORTABLE BOOK HOLDER provides a means for reading printed material without the use of one's hands in a manner, which is quick, easy and efficient.
