Golf Practice System
An innovative system that is used to practice golf shots in a limited
space.
The golf ball is tethered to one end of a line. The other end of the line
is secured to a support, which is calibrated to indicate the distance
the ball would have traveled in free flight when struck by a golf club.
The system includes an energy absorption device to control and limit the
movement of the line through the system as the ball is being stopped.
FIG. 1 is an elevational view of a preferred embodiment
of the invention:
SUMMARY AND BENEFITS OF THE INVENTION:
- The invention provides a relatively low cost system for individuals
to practice golf
in the confines of their own yards.
- The invention provides a system for practicing actual swings in limited
space that uses an energy absorption device to dissipate the kinetic
energy of the struck golf ball.
- The invention also includes techniques and methods of charting the
history and progress of the golfer’s swing in this "virtual"
driving range.
- The invention represents a very simple apparatus for practicing golf
swings.
FIG. 4 is a sample progress chart that could be used
for serious practitioners of the
invention:
Some additional features:
- The real golf ball gives a real hit feel
- Any club may be used
- Only forty feet of yard length is needed
- The golfer sees the ball take flight
- The ball gently returns to the vicinity of striking
- The return angle deviation gives contact information
- The free-flight distance is registered
- Equipment set up or take down time is about two minutes
- Storage space is equivalent to one golf club
- The system is all mechanical with no moving parts
